We love GOOD DESIGN - This is @brennansbottlingstore A Traditional Bar & Off License situated on the corner of Walkins Street and New Street, A raised gold Gaelic style font set on a black fascia. Brennans has always been kept in good nick over the years. I grew up nearby. While doing a small bit of research it was really interesting to read some of the history of Walkins Street, formerly Walkins Gate, one of seven gateways to Kilkenny city which stood at the junction of the Friary Church and Garden row. We love GOOD DESIGN - This is The BLUE BAR Situated at the top of Patrick Street, just on the edge of town close to where St. Patrick's Gatehouse and part of the former Kilkenny City walls once lay. The building itself used to be Kilkenny’s Union House. We love GOOD DESIGN - This is @langtonskilkenny, an important part of many a cat's nightlife over the last 84 year. Langton's has grown over the years, originally an award winning bar and now a 4 star hotel, restaurant, music venue and theatre. This building is a terraced three-bay two-storey house built around 1900, situated on the corner of upper Johns Street and Maudlin Street it now houses a fabulous coffee shop serving different types of coffee along with lots of edible goodies. We love GOOD DESIGN - This is Dylan Whisky Bar A simple gold script font on a fiery red. The Dylan is an old Victorian style bar situated on John Street, Kilkenny. Specializing in fine whiskies, the Dylan won the Leinster Whiskey Bar of the year in 2016, 2017 & 2018 and also the Whisky Icons Award in 2019, 20, 21. We love GOOD DESIGN - This is Matt’s or Matt The Millers Bar & Restaurant. That big imposing building on the northside of the river Nore at Johns bridge, you can’t miss it. Voted Best Irish Music Pub of the Year 2017, Matts has been part of Kilkenny nightlife for most of my adult life, and has always been kept in great nick. We love GOOD DESIGN - This is @thebookandcoffeeshop away on William street. A simple serifed gold font on a jade green fascia. The view through the window from across the rood looked very inviting. The Book & Coffee Shop sells quality used books, tea and coffee, and nice things to eat. But for "Dexter" the Cavapoo I would have explored further. Definitely on my bucket list to visit over the next week. We love GOOD DESIGN - This @khansbooks on James Street. A shopfront I pass regularly and have always admired. A simple layout, beautiful vibrant colors and big inviting windows. It's great to see independent bookshops in our city and I love that you can browse and flick through some of the books available right on the street. I know my little boy is a big fan.
